I am looking for some MTConnect data coming off an additive machine. Any brand/model of machine will do. The standard includes enough relevant data items that I know at least a few companies or hobbyists have put this in place, but I'm fishing for unknown or under the radar implementations.

If I can't find somebody to provide data I'm going to track down a MakerBot to install one of the agent adapters on GitHub and go from there.

Thanks

Have you had any luck with this? I'm currently trying to set up a connection to my MakerBot Replicator 1 using the Python Agent/Adapter on GitHub. So far, I've installed all of the libraries on my computer, but I'm hitting a road block trying to run the Agent.

Trais,

Thanks for checking out the github agent/adapter for Makerbot. Unfortunately, I don't think it will work with a replicator 1, it will only work with a replicator 2. Take a look at the Makerbot MightyBoard and see what Rev it is. If it is G, H, or higher it should work. To see the board you'll have to take apart your Makerbot. More than likely your Makerbot Replicator 1 has a MightyBoard Rev E or lower Sad so it won't work. Will you be attending MC2? I'll see about brining our Makerbot 2 to the exhibit and I can show you how ours works. Good luck! Makerbot can be frustrating at times...

best,

Joel

Thanks @jdneidg for the reply. My Rep1's MightyBoard blew up about a year ago, so I'm pretty sure I have the RevE. There isn't much support for the pre-closed-source MakerBots, but what support there has been is always graciously appreciated.

In regards to the MTConnect data:

I'm only intermediately fluent with VB.NET programming, so do you guys know of any VB.NET based agents? I'm pretty sure I saw a C# agent, but I'd much prefer to be in VB.NET. Probably not an easy language to do this sort of thing, but it's the best I've got! Smile

Trais,

Yeah, MakerBot is flakey sometimes, even dealing with their support...I find myself sometimes beating my head against my keyboard, and usually only do that when I'm coding into the wee hours of the night Smile

If you like VB.NET checkout this Adapter workshop by Will Sobel w/ System Insights(Architect of MTConnect)

https://github.com/mtconnect/mc2-adapter-lab

There are videos and source code to developing your first adapter.

Finally got to finish watching the videos. Great source of information. I'll poke around with it hands on in the next couple weeks. This is more of a home project, so I have to find the time.

Thanks for your help guys!
