Is anyone interested in working on an Adapter for Zeiss CMM? Would like to open-source it when completed on the MTConnect Github site for adapters. I have a couple Zeiss CMMs running Calypso version 5 that we could use for testing.

thanks

Have you talked to Zeiss already? I can get ahold of them if not. They have not approached me, but may very well have talked to someone else about this already. I will follow up with you at the TAG meeting at the latest.

I'd be happy to help. what are you trying to get from the cmm? Basic utilization? quality results?

I know Zeiss has been working with dmsc to implement QIF, so there may be an opportunity to get additional data from the Cmm. I have a good contact there if this is of interest.

Hi. Is there any more information about this? I would be very happy to be able to get basic utilization rates from our Zeiss CMM's. Both are running Calypso 5.8 and are available for testing. I found it difficult to get information from Zeiss beyond basic instructional information for Calypso.

I might be missing something here, but I believe your best bet is going to be one of the engineering companies that is already familiar with MTConnect. You can start here: http://mtconnect.org/members/product-locator.aspx

Also, I suspect that Zeiss can help you out but it would have to be the right person at the company. The best way to get in touch with that person is through @will (see his post above)

I'm sure they are all very helpful if you are looking to purchase something but I want to learn about doing the integration.

There appears to be a Zeiss CMM connected at the NIST testbed and the contact on this project is listed:

http://www.nist.gov/el/facilities_instruments/vftestbed.cfm

I have upcoming meetings with NIST regarding testbed implementations and will post back here if and when more info on CMMs with their testbeds come up.

Of course, this assumes that I'm not referring you back to your own project...sorry if that is the case.

Yeah, just looking to get back basic info, like Utilization, Axis, Faults, etc. Maybe be more in-depth once adapter is completed. We beta test software for Zeiss, but they are not very willing to share any type of API for their software, most of the time you just have to hack around. Their C99 controller has limited info and is like a black box. Best thing to do is do it from the PC side. I'll be at the next TAG meeting so maybe we can discuss more then and post an update after. Thanks

Are you guys familiar with the I++ DME interface? There is a specification here:

I sure wasn't, thanks for posting. MTConnect is related back to I++ DME via the Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) and NIST (see http://www.nist.gov/el/isd/cs/idme.cfm). I'm glad you brought that up now, though, as the Technical Advisory Group is currently up to their eyeballs in drafting the MTConnect updates related to parts and metrology. This will be reviewed next week in the meeting mentioned in another post.

By the way @the_machinist_ , I'm pretty sure I found you on Twitter like 4 hours ago. Weird.
